Look to the future now

With it being New Year's Day, plenty of people will be thinking about the future. Here's how one F E Smith, in 1930, predicted life might be like a century later. He was sufficiently prescient to identify population growth as a critical issue, and also foresaw the use of unmanned vehicles in warfare, synthetically created foodstuffs and the globalising effects of TV. However, we're yet to be ruled by a technocracy, we don't all have personal planes and no sea has been created in the heart of the Sahara desert. There's still time, though, I suppose...
