Effective deterrent

The BBC are often seen as the enemy by the Tories and the right-wing print media, but I wonder if I've spotted a rare instance of collusion. Surely the only conceivable reason that Mrs Brown's Boys has been guaranteed a further five Christmas specials, running until 2020, is that it's an attempt to dissuade potential immigrants from heading to these shores?
