When New York Times journalist Kevin Roose managed to sneak into the annual meeting of a secret society composed of some of the richest and most influential people on the planet, he witnessed many things - middle-aged men in drag, off-colour jokes, poor comedy routines - but certainly no humility or contrition for the global banking crisis. His account of the event makes for genuinely jaw-dropping reading, proving "it can be hard to see past the foie gras to the real world".
