Going backwards

Disappointing news from India, where gay sex has been recriminalised as an "unnatural offence" by the Supreme Court, after four years of suspension. While it will of course be particularly painful for gay Indians, it will no doubt also have upset Stephen Fry, who as recently as October was hailing India as an encouraging example of an emerging superpower with a relatively progressive attitude to homosexuality (in contrast to Russia and Brazil) in his BBC documentary Out There.

You can send a message of support to activists and the affected in India via campaign group All Out.
