Philip Pullman on the fundamentals of copyright. A view I share, though a depressingly unpopular one in the current age of freely available music downloads. If artists don't get paid, then a major incentive to produce and create is removed. The long-term effect that that might have on the health of the music industry, for instance, doesn't bear thinking about.
