Hats off to Lee Beaumont, the enterprising chap who's set up a premium rate 0871 number to make money out of cold callers. Needless to say, it's not something the regulator Phone Pay Plus are keen to encourage, a spokesman telling Radio 4 that such numbers "are not designed to be used in this way". Of course not - they're designed to be used to enable companies to fleece the general public, rather than vice versa...
