At university one of the undergraduate module options I could have chosen was called English Place-Names. It was primarily aimed at those who needed to fulfil their Old English credits but who had a pathological aversion to studying Old English itself. I never took it but always hoped that the seminars would consist of people shouting out place-names like Cocks and Fanny Barks and everyone else sitting around tittering. Perhaps this map might be the fruits of their research?
On the subject of online rudeness, it gives me great pleasure to know that my company has spent considerable time and resources producing what is, in essence, an academic version of Viz's Profanosaurus.
