"This has rocked the bowls community in Edinburgh to its core"

Young hoodlum takes up traditionally refined sporting pursuit, misbehaves spectacularly and is loudly tutted at by an appalled establishment anxious to protect the game's genteel reputation. Sounds like the plot of Happy Gilmore, doesn't it? Just got to work out who's playing the role of Shooter McGavin.

Update: Cheers to the anonymous commenter who pointed out that the story actually even more closely resembles the plot of Paul Kaye comedy flick Blackball...

Or, indeed, exactly like Paul Kaye's film Blackball?
