Friend-of-a-friend Sophie Coulombeau succinctly sums up five years of my life. However, understanding what working towards a PhD in English Literature is really like is probably about all we have in common - this is someone who, while still engaged in her studies, managed to knock off a prize-winning novel that had everyone from Philip Pullman to the Independent purring.
