Bon bonbonbonbons

I don't know what anyone else thinks, but the latest series of Shooting Stars feels a bit flat. Sure, there have been moments - the odd challenge, the odd prank, the odd bit of banter with Angelos, the odd question ("True or false: popular boy band Westlife were named after Fred West"), new friend of the show Archie Andrews - but it's starting to seem a bit tired. They didn't make the most of Ross Noble (though, in fairness, the guests are generally only props anyway), and I'm not keen on the introduction of comedy character panelists.

That said, if it hadn't have been for that, I'd never have discovered Peter Serafinowicz's alter ego Brian Butterfield. Not sure exactly how or why I missed his TV series, but the Butterfield Industries Interweb Supermationway is a marvel to behold.

And on the subject of TV comedy, here's a sight League Of Gentlemen fans will be glad to see...

It's true. It's not got the sparkle it once had. Are the 90's versions broadcast anywhere ever, as I'd like to see them again?

Peter Serafinowicz's show was very hit-and-miss and a touch repetitive - but what sketch show isn't? Brian Butterfield was certainly one of the better things about it.

Ever seen his '50 impressions in two minutes' online vid? That's probably my favourite thing of his.

We were actually talking about Monday's show over the weekend and I actually found myself reminded of more amusing moments than I could initially recall. Still, I think you're right that some of the sparkle's gone. Difficult for them to find an alternative, though - the format seems to be an ideal vehicle for their mucking about.
