Know Your Enemy

"There have been other endorsements from people your mum and dad know the names of — Kanye West, Jay-Z — as well as the aforementioned riots, arrests and fistfights, and more headlines courtesy of a 500-word letter of rebuke from idiot-eyed, post-Pugwall twee people Tegan And Sara, who are unhappy at how many times the word ‘faggot’ has so far emerged from Tyler’s mouth.

The lesbian (it’s important for the context) duo also accused everyone else — journalists, fans, 'members of the indie rock world' (oh God, what a disgusting collection of words) — of going along with it for fear of appearing to be either, a) old, or, b) a faggot. Tyler’s response? [On Twitter] 'If Tegan And Sarah need some hard dick, hit me up!'

Kev Kharas of the Stool Pigeon scoffs at attacks on Tyler, The Creator, leader of the Odd Future posse.

These days much of my music knowledge is gleaned from the pages of that esteemed (and, marvellously, free) publication - largely an entertaining and informative read - but the only regular irritation I can gripe about is Kharas. I don't generally like his writing style or his habit of putting himself at the centre of any interview feature. But with this he really has excelled himself: eyeball-rolling and sniggering at complaints about songs about killing gay people (they're probably ironic, aren't they, Kev - or should that be Nathan Barley?) while trying to talk street and whipping himself up into a rabid froth of excitement over someone who shows more aptitude and enthusiasm for trashing a skateboard than for stringing together a single coherent or remotely interesting phrase, and who throws a tantrum because a band member has bought a jacket he's been eyeing up.

If that makes me a) old, or b) a faggot, then so be it.

Kharas: Fuck you.

Stool Pigeon: C'mon, you can do much better than both of these imbeciles.
