Best bar none

A year after first entering Keko Moku and I was back again. Since that first visit, the tiki bar in Manchester's Northern Quarter has been named as Best Good Time Bar and overall winner of the People's Choice Best Bar award at a recent industry awards bash - both very well deserved accolades.

No Teenwolf bouncing a basketball or Freddie Krueger manning the decks this Halloween - just face-painted zombie bar staff wandering about dispensing tequila from an optic straight down punters' gullets and the usual excellent music mix (the Beastie Boys' 'Sure Shot' and a track from the Fleet Foxes EP in quick succession, anyone?). Enough of the sugar around the rim of the glass and the low hum of polite chatter, this is how cocktail bars should be: loud, sweaty, cramped and with the cocktails themselves served in handled pint glasses and set on fire.
