Congratulations to The XX on a richly deserved Mercury Music Prize win - and credit to the judges for acknowledging them as the rightful victors. Three more unassuming winners you could hardly hope to meet, though - the acceptance speech and subsequent interview with Lauren Laverne was painful.
The Prize is now sponsored by Barclaycard, so it gives me great pleasure to say: seeing the smile wiped off the faces of Paul Weller and Mumford & Sons = priceless...
(More on The XX to come, incidentally, with a write-up of the Saturday at Glastonbury.)

Um, that's Mastercard...
Gah. Oh well, I'll console myself with the thought of Paul Weller's disappointed face and the Mumford boys crying into their orange squash.
I would have preferred Foals, but I expected the XX would win, and I'm happy with it.
