Is it just me...

... or does anyone else wonder would be the reaction of the hundreds of thousands of people who seem to continue to be entertained by the phrase "You're fired!" if they go into work tomorrow morning and find it directed at them?

Blimey Ben, you're becoming a right grumpy old git! :-)

(That said... what do I mean 'becoming' ???)

First Twitter and mobile phones, and now 'The Apprentice'... you do realise that being able to relate to SOMETHING that the masses enjoy will make you appear less like an social outcast?

I mean, I'm as misanthropic as I suspect you are... but I try to avoid cultivating an isolated persona because its THOSE people (the twitchy, lonely old geezer living in the tumbledown house - y'know, you in 30 years time if you're not careful) that get bricks through their windows for incorrect accusations of being a 'paediatrician' :-)

You have been warned! :-)

Schadenfreude is nothing new, and the imbeciles on the show in question aren't exactly losing their jobs in the first place, merely being eliminated from a desperately prolonged publicity exercise masquerading as an interview. More interestingly, what the hell is Alan Sugar famous for? Aside from managing to crash out of the personal computing market at a time when most of the other players were onto their fourth LearJet. How brilliant! It wouldn't matter if he wasn't being paraded as Britain's answer to Donald Trump (literally)...

Now now Leon, I'm not anti-populist for the sake of it - even if when it comes to being a GOM I'm guilty as charged...
