Quick march!

How to tackle the problem of congestion in London? Target the obvious cause of congestion - too much traffic? No, not if you're Boris Johnson - it's to target pedestrians by giving them six seconds fewer to cross the road.

The scheme has been condemned by road safety groups, who predict it will result in an increase in jaywalking and collisions. No account seems to have been taken of those who actually need the most consideration (the elderly, the blind), or of the fact that traffic lights seem to reveal a lot of drivers to be colourblind, unable to distinguish between flashing amber and green - presumably more traffic light cameras will be installed to catch out offenders, then?

Incredibly, though, it seems the traffic lights in the path of this ridiculous scheme have already been jumped, 150 sets of lights having been altered in the capital since July...

Another stroke of genius from our wonderful Mayor. Makes me so proud to be a Londoner.
