Time for bed

Well, all I can say is what a weekend. Over the course of the past two days, spent with around 20 others in a very well-appointed bunk barn, I have:

* fallen deeper in love with the Brecon Beacons

* enjoyed the incredible weather which meant that, even up a big hill in Wales in early February, it was possible to wander about in only a T-shirt without being at all cold

* marvelled at the power of fresh air and beautiful scenery to banish a nasty hangover and the even nastier thoughts of my beloved Newcastle Utd's latest drubbing

* fed some ducks

* eaten a huge roast dinner

* drunk about three times my own bodyweight in wine

* got to know someone I "met" through Stylus better, and found myself trying to explain my inability to understand what's so special about The Pixies

* tried to formulate some thoughts on the American presidential race

* had a debate about whether what Stars Of The Lid do is music

* played a lot of table tennis and a genius party game of "accusations, lying, bluffing, second-guessing, assassination, and mob hysteria"

* listened to a cover of Slayer's 'Seasons In The Abyss' played on two acoustic guitars and a miniature child's drumkit

* thought it was a good idea to turn the clock back an hour as a way of extending the fun

* joined others in a game which involved deliberately spooning chicken cawl into your eye

* finally hit the sack at 6am two days in a row

Off to bed it is, then.

(Thanks to Owen for the organisation, and Jenni for the photo.)

I've played "Werewolf" in the form of Mafia" before. It's dead fun.

Who is the Stylus person, if I may ask?

That would be Dave McGonigle - he came up for Saturday night, armed with single malt and Stars Of The Lid albums...

Yeah, there's nothing quite like sitting around with a bunch of friends chanting "Lynch him, lynch him..."
