There I was, wracked with feelings of guilt to perhaps a laughable extent, wanting to read Kurt's journals and yet resisting the temptation to buy the book according to some kind of principle - and my parents go and bring about a resolution by buying it for me. So far, I've only briefly skimmed through it. First impressions? The writings of a passionate, intelligent, sensitive and frequently quite disturbed young man which document how he was fucked over from all sides. And whatever anyone might say about whether or not we should have access to the journals (and I'm still dubious that we should), they're a fascinating read.
