Changes are once again afoot just up the road at Victoria Park. Restaurant closures have been depressingly regular in Cardiff so far this year, but the imminent loss of small plates eatery Nook - as good as it undoubtedly is - on the familiar grounds of "current industry struggles" will at least be offset by the fact that Lewis Dwyer and Andy Aston are waiting in the wings, ready to move in and keep the fine dining flame burning down that end of Cowbridge Road.
The pair will be bringing Hiraeth to the capital after a short stint in Bridgend, and will arrive with considerable pedigree: recognition in the Michelin Guide and a pair of AA Rosettes. Soon-to-be-neighbours Ansh and 591 have proven to be an upgrade, if anything, on their predecessors (Bwydiful and Dough Thrower, respectively), so here's hoping that Hiraeth can hit the ground running and repeat the feat.
