Art attack

Most bands form with no greater objective than writing and recording some songs and playing some gigs. Not so Throbbing Gristle, who set out with a rather more lofty ambition: "to rebuild the notion of what music could be".

For the largely ignorant but curious viewer like myself, documentary film Other, Like Me - currently available on the BBC iPlayer - was an entertaining and frequently eye-opening (if not entirely perfect) primer on both the industrial pioneers and COUM Transmissions, the performance art collective in which they had their roots. My Buzz write-up is here.
