It's not all gravy

More than five weeks on, and - as someone sensitive to the current strains on the catering industry and aware of the scourge that is entitled customers - I still can't decide whether it's unreasonable to expect a pub to be able to make a pot of gravy on request.

That did colour our experience of the Sloop Inn, in the picturesque Pembrokeshire harbour village of Porthgain - though not as much as the relative disappointment of the mains after the high bar set by the starters, I should add.

All that said, if you find yourself out west and in need of some pub grub in a characterful inn, you could do worse.
