"Heckling is soul food for me"

As I said back in March - in connection with the publication of Lias Saoudi's collaboration with Adelle Stripe - Fat White Family are one of those bands that I feel I really should love but that have never really won me over.

That doesn't mean I don't want to read Ten Thousand Apologies, though - or recommend this tremendously entertaining piece he's written for the Quietus about the bizarre experience of supporting Liam Gallagher at Knebworth this summer.

I love the image of Liam being utterly baffled at being told that he now owns the word "lasagne" (aka "the 'Digsy's Dinner' theorem"), of Lias' backstage conversations with his parents while off his box, and of the "last-minute rattle of panic" at the realisation that there isn't any butter for him to smear all over himself: "Within ten minutes 32 paper ramekins with mini rectangles of butter have been sourced and handed over."

Let's face it: we need bands who take a collective decision on the right time before a major show to start taking speed and listening to gabba.
