"One hell of a trip"

Happy half-century birthday to Space Ritual, Hawkwind's 1973 live album, which I'm slightly ashamed to admit I only picked up after reading the enthusings of Harry Sword and JR Moores in Monolithic Undertow and Electric Wizards respectively.

On the occasion of the record's 40th birthday, Hawkwind nut Joe Banks wrote this appraisal for the Quietus, referring to it as "one of the most mind-bending, trance-inducing and flat-out immersive experiences available for your ears and brain" and "a raging black slab of proto-punk blazing a trail through the vastness of the cosmos". One listen - or maybe even half a listen - to 'Born To Go' and you'll know exactly what he means.
