As a regular contributor to Buzz, it's probably poor form to be bigging up another local listings guide. But the Through The Night newsletter refreshes the parts that other guides can't reach, by and large promoting gigs on the cultural fringes/margins, often taking place in venues that are off the beaten track.
As someone who's practically part of the furniture at Clwb, Tramshed and the Moon, I'd like to expand my horizons a bit, and the man behind TTN, Xavier Boucherat, seems like the sort of chap whose lead I should follow.
In addition to endorsing events, he also uses the newsletter to recommend new releases and publish conversations with those who make the magic happen. Recent interviewees include DJ/producer Guy Evans, a veteran of countless Cardiff club nights, and Jon Ruddick, one of those behind the existence of Shift, the vast venue/exhibition space beneath the ill-fated Capitol shopping centre.
