"Cool Non-Literary Uses For Books" - and thankfully not one of them is as "a pedestal on which to display a glorified flipflop" in a branch of White Stuff... When we (a) own our own house and (b) have more space, I'll build myself a desk out of books and also nick that idea of suspending them from the ceiling.
