Beach buoyed

In some ways I'm pleased to see that, in amongst all the inevitable love for places in Cornwall, Dorset and Devon, Druridge Bay received an honourable mention in the Guardian's guide to the best quiet beaches in the UK. On the other, as with everything else in Northumberland, I'm not sure I'm too happy about the idea of the rest of the world suddenly cottoning on to it. Our traditional Christmas Day strolls along the sands just won't be the same if you can't move for tourists...

(In truth, it's far from my favourite beach in Northumberland - that would have to be Bamburgh, but there are plenty of others to choose from too.)

(Thanks to Dave for the link.)
