A vocational education

A pertinent news story as the schools go back: pupils are leaving school ill-equipped to cope with working in the wider world. Being able to do simple maths and write coherently is fine, but how can they be expected to get ahead if they don't know how to "bother colleagues into sponsoring them for a fun run, talk at length about their dinner plans or write arsey notes about unwashed mugs"?

(Thanks to Kate for the link.)
